U.S. Senate Candidates Forcing Transgender Teachers on Classrooms

Washington, D.C. (October 31, 2012) -- Traditional Values Coalition (TVC) President Andrea Lafferty, released the following statement today:

"Traditional Values Coalition is running awareness campaigns in 7 states to inform voters which candidates for U.S. Senate support putting transgender teachers in the classroom.

"The Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) is radical legislation that hurts kids and forces schools to hire or retain transgendered teachers in every school district in America.

"ENDA is also a clear violation of the religious liberties and rights of conscience of Christian business owners.

"Along with the 2012 Democrat platform--Kaine of Virginia, Casey of Pennsylvania, Donnelly of Indiana, Brown of Ohio, Tester of Montana, McCaskill of Missouri and Baldwin of Wisconsin have all committed to ENDA’s passage.

"A lot of attention is being paid to the Presidential race. However, there are key U.S. Senate races that need some attention--where candidates are hiding from the voters their commitment to override ‘anti-discrimination’ laws in 34 states and to give transgenders the same "protected class status" designed to help disadvantaged African-Americans and women.

"From cross-dressers to those who have surgically operated on their bodies to alter their gender, all would share in the same protections designed for underprivileged minorities -- all these sexual preferences would share in ENDA's protection.

"Teacher’s personal issues such as ‘gender identity conflict’ should not be played out in the classroom. Children need a stable and secure environment in which to learn."
