No friends -- this is not an article from the Onion:

The Minnesota Vikings punter posed for a prominent gay magazine. However, Kluwe—who's not gay—isn't coming out. He's speaking out, loudly.

"To me this fight is about equality and human rights," Kluwe said. The fact is that they're American citizens who pay taxes, who serve in our military who defend this country who are not benefiting under the same legal protections and laws that the rest of us are. And to me that's flat out discrimination, that's the same as segregation, or suffrage."

Of course, Kluwe isn't limited to just promoting alternative lifestyles. Kluwe ironically thinks that America spends far too much money on presidential elections.

...this coming from a punter who makes $1.3 million dollars. A year. To kick a ball.

Goes to show there are only two types of liberals: those who can afford to be liberal, and those who would benefit from being liberal.

Kluwe also generously states that he'd be glad to pay more in taxes. In which case, TVC humbly submits that if Kluwe feels a smidge undertaxed, he can always donate to his government.

Until then... glorified soccer players are free to opine on the topics they choose.

For Everything Else, There's al-MasterCard

The concept of shariah-finance is pretty simple. Muslims are forbidden to charge on interest -- the lifeblood of any credit card. So instead of interest, shariah-finance charges an upfront fee while simultaneously donating some of the proceeds to charity. Win-win-win for all involved.

This system of finance today holds about $1.5 trillion in assets, ultimately using a system that before 9/11 was difficult to track and bled into Islamist terror networks such as Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood -- all under the guise of charitable giving.

So with a bit of marketing magic (and you have to admit, the compass is a nice touch) and some kowtowing to the strictures of shariah finance, MasterCard has gone green.

A nice, bright, Islamic Jihad sort of green.

There's no question that shariah finance has some fairly direct problems when it comes to the inevitable connection to financing Islamist terrorism.

The Holy Land Foundation is a classic example of this dalliance with Islamist terror. In 2007, federal authorities brought charges against this organization as a major funding source for Islamic terrorism. In an 11-page document, 305 unindicted co-conspirators were identified as having funneled money to either Hamas or the Muslim Brotherhood.

By 2008, the federal government landed convictions against five of these individuals, ultimately funneling over $12 million to Hamas since 1995. Among the groups that were complicit in this scheme were the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), and the North American Islamic Trust.

The method of financing Hamas? Through shariah finance, who funneled the money through zakat committees ostensibly designed to be charity front groups, but in reality were laundering the money to Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas terrorists in the Israeli West Bank and Gaza Strip.

...money that was used to kill Israelis and promote Islamic terrorism.

What's more interesting is that on the personal level in terrorist-sponsoring regimes such as Iran, the new MasterCards are a concerning new conduit for higher ups in the Iranian regime to skirt sanctions.

MasterCard clearly sees the dollars for their end of the "win-win" scenario, but utterly fails to see the moral dimension of participation in the system of shariah finance.

It is a simple equation of greed countermanding common sense.

This isn't to argue MasterCard should be charging interest rates to terrorists -- the means of MasterCard's dalliance with the conduits of Islamic terrorism is not what at are issue. What is at stake are the ends of shariah finance; results that are ultimately measured in Israeli or American lives.

Is that really worth an entry into the marketplace of shariah financing?

September 11th: Eleven Years Later

Perhaps it's time to be brutally honest. Are the Islamists are winning the war on terrorism?

11 years after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, and though in the first eight years we saw a policy of containment and the elimination of terrorist-sponsor states such as Libya, Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan, today we see a far different world:

MOROCCO: the Muslim Brotherhood forged a governing coalition that -- for the moment -- seems to be contained,
ALGERIA: the Islamists have completed their iron grip over what was once considered to be a cosmopolitan and southern appendage of France,
TUNISIA: Islamists have managed to incorporate shariah law into their constitution,
LIBYA: the Muslim Brotherhood has successfully infiltrated every layer of society and is pushing for greater concessions in its near-loss in the elections last June,
EGYPT: the Muslim Brotherhood has successfully wrested the nation from the hands of the Ba'athist leadership, and is currently in a staring contest with the military chiefs as missiles continue to rain upon southern Israel,
GAZA: the Israelis continue to struggle with missile attacks, tunnels moving weapons to organizations such as Hamas, and the constant threat of terrorist activity,
LEBANON: Hezbollah continues to ratchet up the rhetoric and rebuild after the 2006 Second Lebanon War as their Iranian financiers replenished their stores and prepare for a showdown with Israel,
SYRIA: the Ba'athists are facing a coalition of Islamist elements seeking to replace the Assad regime with elements of the Muslim Brotherhood,
IRAQ: after the American withdrawal, Shi'a elements are orchestrating a careful contest with the Sunni minority that holds the stability of the region in doubt,
SAUDI ARABIA: the king has the privilege of an American president bowing at his feet...
IRAN: weapons scientists come closer and closer towards building a nuclear weapon that can have only one target and one aim: Israel, and the destruction of the Jewish state.
PAKISTAN: so-called moderate elements have been sacked in favor of a local warlords and a regime that only recently sanctioned the death penalty for a Christian girl of 14 -- later discovered to have been framed by a local Muslim cleric,
and in AFGHANISTAN, honor killings and other outrages continue as NATO forces seek to withdraw from the region.

When you consider that many of these developments occurred over the last four years alone, it can lead one to wonder whether we have forgotten the lessons of September 11th so quickly.

On the home front, we see a U.S. Department of Justice no longer willing to take on Islamist terrorism on the home front, whether it is challenging the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) or taking on the Muslim Brotherhood front group, the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA).

In Henrico County, Virginia the locality was forced to push through a mosque on a 5 acre track by the Department of Justice, under threat of legal action.

American courts are more frequently turning to Islamic shariah upon the request of the litigants.

In Oklahoma, anti-shariah legislation is being challenges as anti-Muslim bigotry (or worse).

The U.S. State Department has even gone so far as to align itself with the Islamists in preventing any criticism of Islam as a form of hate speech.

This is the new America just 11 years after September 11th.

Between the secularists who would prefer to ignore the Islamist threat, and the constant assaults of Islamists on the other side, the religious pluralism and rights of conscience Americans have traditionally enjoyed and defended are at stake.

Vigilance is the best protector of our liberties.

...and we have lost a great deal of ground thanks to the laxity of the current administration and their policies of accommodating rather than engaging Islam.

Today is the day to remember the victims of September 11th. Tomorrow is the day to remind ourselves that Islamist terror never sleeps, and continues to gain precious ground and gather strength. We cannot and must not relax our guard if America's freedoms and liberties as we know them are to be preserved for our children and grandchildren.

CONFIRMED: TVC Was Next Target of FRC Shooter

The following was sent to TVC supporters on Monday, August 20, 2012 after TVC received confirmation that Floyd Lee Corkins II -- aka "the FRC Shooter" -- intended to attack TVC's offices in Washington following the shooting at Family Research Council on August 15, 2012. What follows is a summary of events as they transpired and some of the background on the Southern Poverty Law Center's (SPLC) threats against Christian organizations, as well as the left-wing terrorism the SPLC's rhetoric has now inspired.

It's been 5 days since the FRC shooting, and the alarming news that Traditional Values Coalition was next still hasn't quite sunk in with staff.

...but I do want to let our steadfast TVC supporters know that we are all OK.

Here are the facts as we have them so far:

The day after the shooting, the FBI stopped by the office. FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force visited the office the next day to interview staff and called me personally Friday morning while I was on travel.
In an off-the-record conversation with law enforcement personnel, I was informed this psychopath had our address in his front pocket and that "if he had gotten out of FRC alive he was headed to TVC's office next."
Immediately, I contacted the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force and confirmed the unthinkable: Traditional Values Coalition was a target.

TVC asked the U.S. Justice Department for increased security, not knowing whether or not the shooter had acted independently or was part of a larger terror cell (as is typical in many cases of domestic terrorism).

After being transferred to the U.S. Attorney for the Washington D.C. area, we were blown off and told to contact D.C. police.

Just like that.

This isn't the first time this has happened where TVC has been the victim of serious threats and the FBI has refused to act.

Now if this had someone sending bacon to a mosque, a "hate crime" would have been reported and the Justice Department would have immediately dispatched an army of attorneys and established an immediate surveillance perimeter.

But this wasn't a mosque.
Or an abortion clinic.
Or a gay nightclub.

...this was Traditional Values Coalition. Once again, Christians take a back seat.

Is this is to be expected from an Obama Administration and a U.S. Justice Department that has been overtly hostile to Christian organizations? Sadly yes, America. We've come to that point now.

The scariest part? TVC can't afford security guards. The only thing that prevented this event from becoming a tragedy was the fact that Floyd Lee Corkins II didn't target TVC first.

What's causing this left-wing violence against Christian groups? The Southern Poverty Law Center.

For years, SPLC has listed mainstream Christian groups such as Traditional Values Coalition as "hate groups" for standing up for marriage as a covenant between one man and one woman, and exposing SPLC for comparing Baptists and Pentacostals with white supremacists.

Because we've stood up for Christian values in the public square, Traditional Values Coalition and a host of other Christian groups have had to tolerate being listed has hate groups on par with the Aryan Nation and the Ku Klux Klan.

The only two organizations in Washington the SPLC designated as "hate groups" on their list? Family Research Council and Traditional Values Coalition.

In fact, the SPLC knew that their designation of TVC (and others) as "hate groups" would inspire the sort of violence we saw on Wednesday. In a December 16th, 2010 letter to this office, the SPLC's J. Richard Cohen leveled this threat:

"You might disagree with our hate group designations. But it's hard for us to believe that you would "stand in solidarity," as the December 15th statement says, with organizations that knowingly spread demeaning lies like the ones we've outlined above. FBI data demonstrate that gay men and lesbians are, by far, the most likely group to be victimized by violent hate crimes. Spreading demonizing propaganda about them obviously does not help the situation."

What situation? Violence.

The implication? That this "violence" would be revisited upon Christian groups, organizations and charities.

It happened just like the SPLC promised it would, didn't it?

Now you see why Christian groups have been so concerned.

First they targeted Chick-fil-A for standing up for marriage. Now left-wing violence is coming for organizations like Family Research Council and Traditional Values Coalition.

Obama was right: “If they bring a knife to a fight, we bring a gun.”

They brought a gun last Wednesday.

We can only match it with prayers.

Prayers, and a redoubling of our efforts to take this great nation of ours back from left-wing violence.

All that stood between the FRC shooter and tragedy -- had he decided to come to TVC first -- was a rickety steel door.

We desperately need to improve our security at the Washington office. Our quick estimates run somewhere in the neighborhood of $70,000 to secure the windows, replace the steel door, put security locks and provide a 24-7 video surveillance solution around our perimeter, and above all else make sure our staff and our visitors are safe.

I can't skim that off the top of an already cash strapped budget.

So I have to ask you to help us -- now more than ever before.

In Memoriam: Nellie Gray

Nellie Gray was an undaunted, unabashed and unapologetic defender of the poorest of the poor in American society -- children in the womb. Her passing at the age of 86 is a testament to millions of pro-life Americans about the determinationg of one soul against the power of the abortion industry:

Though Nellie had begun to show the effects of her nearly 90 years at recent marches, she never failed to show up and to lead the proceedings. In 2008, the then-84-year-old pro-life leader was taken to hospital after tripping and falling while on stage at the March. Gray sustained bruises and cuts and required stitches to her forehead, and was unable to attend the Rose Dinner at which she has always been the MC.

But in an interview with LifeSiteNews, Fr. Frank Pavone remembered that, to his astonishment, Gray was present the following morning at a meeting of pro-life leaders, with her head all bandaged up. “It was just symbolic of her entire life. Her commitment to this cause was unstoppable,” Pavone said. “Seeing her standing up in that meeting with that patch on her head just said it all.”

That's the Nellie Gray we all knew and loved -- the humlity and confidence of a life lived with purpose.

The next March for Life will mark the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, a national tragedy that has consumed over 55 million lives and whose consequences are defended only be the hardest of heart. Nellie's mission to end this tragedy and bring unity to the pro-life movement has defined a generation of rising pro-life leaders.

No greater tribute to her life could be left than to end Roe and leave it in the dustbin of history where it belongs.

The Busine$$ of Equality

Does the Left ever listen to itself speaking?

Sometimes it’s difficult to believe they do.

In a CNN interview, Wyoming Equality Chairman, Jeran Artery put on an air of principle, berating a fast-food chain for stepping into the political arena: “It would really be nice if Chick-fil-A would just get in the business of making great chicken and stay out of uh, out of the business of equality.”

Oddly enough, Artery – and other “boycotters” of Chick-fil-A have been pretty two-faced about their principled stand.

In a brief search, we found the personal facebook page of Jeran Artery. In July Facebook created a new set of icons to identify when a user has gotten so called "married" to a person of the same sex.

So, if Mr. Artery decides to "tie the knot" with his boyfriend, they’ll be able to boast a man+man icon on the social networking site. Does that count as “the business of equality”?

Google came out strong against California’s Proposition 8 earlier this year. Google cofounder, Sergey Brin said of the Same-Sex marriage ban, “we see this fundamentally as an issue of equality.” Oops! Someone please tell Mr. Artery to stop using Google!

Levi Strauss Denim Company has been adamant about supporting gay rights since the 1990s. The company withdrew their financial support from the Boy Scouts because BSA has refused to admit openly gay leaders or scouts. We’re not sure if Mr. Artery is a 501 Original guy or if he prefers the 517 Slim – either way, we bet $58.00 he wouldn’t put up a fight for a new pair!

Maybe GLAAD should put out an ad telling all LGBT to recycle their politicized dark wash.

Speaking of being in the wrong business Progressive Insurance has been widely vocal about gay rights. Their website boasts, “We have maintained a 100 percent Corporate Equality Index score from the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, the largest LGBT advocacy group in the U.S.”

So, to all those people dressing up their argument with the, “stay out of politics and equality issues!” tag line, we aren’t buying it.

This isn’t about principle; this is about silencing the religious beliefs of a majority of Americans because they disagree with you. This is about muzzling religious liberties and free speech under the guise of “intolerance”.

August 1^st proved that Americans on the whole are sick of being told, “You can’t say that. You can’t believe that – because you’re a Christian.”

It also proved that most Americans like religious liberty and free market capitalism with their Chikin.

How Do Islamists Heckle Comedians?

By shooting them.

Abdi Jeylani Malaq Marshale, in his late thirties or early forties, was killed late Tuesday, minutes after leaving Kulmiye radio station, where he worked as drama producer and performer.

"Two men shot and seriously injured Marshale... the comedian was later pronounced dead," said police lieutenant Mohamed Gaal, adding that "unfortunately the assailants escaped."

...

"He had not done anything wrong to anybody, as far as we are concerned, but they shot him in the head and shoulders," said Yusuf Keynan, a presenter at Kulmiye radio.

Anyone recall the last time a comedian was shot after making fun of Christians? Jews? Catholic priests?

Didn't think so.

Jihad Watch: Shi'ite Cleric Issues Fartwa on Sodomy, Explosives In Your Butt

I hope you're sitting down for this one... or at the very least, have your back against the wall:

...or as one commenter on Jihad Watch put it, this puts new meaning to jihad being an inner struggle.

In principle, sodomy is forbidden. However, Jihad is more important. It is the pinnacle of Islam. If sodomy is the only way to reach this pinnacle of Islam, then there is no harm in it.

The rule is that necessity makes the forbidden permissible. Something that is required in order to perform a duty becomes a duty in and of itself. No duty takes precedence over Jihad.

So it's OK to let a mujahedeen sodomize you... if it's for jihad.

Amusing as this might be, the wider (pun unintended) question with regards to Islamists is what else is forbidden in Islam that suddenly becomes "permissible" for the sake of jihad?

The taking of innocent life?
Bombing street cafes?
Indiscriminately firing missiles into southern Israel?
Lying?
Disregard for the rule of law?

Necessity makes the forbidden permissible. Puts quite a spin on "turn the other cheek" doesn't it?

Naturally, several apologists for the Islamist community are doing everything in their power to re-interpret this Shi'ite cleric's comments. Raymond Ibrahim explains this phenomenon among Islamists a bit further:

From here one may understand the many ostensible incongruities of Islamic history: lying is forbidden—but permissible to empower Islam; intentionally killing women and children is forbidden—but permissible during the jihad; suicide is forbidden—but permissible during the jihad, called "martyrdom."

Indeed, the Five Pillars of Islam—including prayer and fasting—may be ignored during the jihad. (So important was the duty of jihad that the Ottoman sultans, who often spent half their lives on the battlefield, were not permitted to perform the obligatory pilgrimage to Mecca.)

More recently, these ideas appeared in different form during Egypt's elections, when Islamic leaders portrayed voting as a form of jihad—leading to the abuse and even killing of those not voting for the Muslim Brotherhood.

According to these two doctrines—which culminate in empowering Islam, no matter how—one may expect anything from would-be jihadis, regardless of how dubious the effort may otherwise seem.

And Allah knows best.

Of course, the next card to be played -- that the video is an elaborate hoax, or at best a distortion of Islam's teachings -- doesn't quite hold up either, as Ibrahim effortlessly destroys this rearguard (OK -- pun intended) action:

In short, for all its triumphant howling, EI fails to deliver, abysmally. The facts remain: such a fatwa does exist; it is written exactly like a fatwa (despite EI's intentional distortions); and a well-known Arabic program quoted it as fact—which is precisely what I originally reported in the first place.

The verdict over at Jihad Watch? Disgusting but true. Which, for anyone who has been tracking things such as Islam's "Five Second Rule" for drinking urine, pretty much already knows.

But hey, "necessity makes the forbidden permissible" in Islam, right? Good from everything to food on the floor, to taking one for the team via exit ramp -- and everything in between.

RedState: Planned Parenthood Kills Young Woman, 24

Not something you're going to see trumpeted in the mainstream media today, but Planned Parenthood find itself with more than just blood on its hands. From RedState this morning:

My heartfelt prayers and condolences go out to the family members, including this young lady’s one-year-old son and her twin sister. I genuinely hope that they will consider following through with requests for an investigation into any acts of negligence on the part of Planned Parenthood.

I’ve documented in other diaries (here, here, here, here and here) how Planned Parenthood has basically been allowed to consider it’s actions as being above the law and why the organization is being permitted to get away with doing this.

The bottom line is, Planned Parenthood has a record of being an unsafe and dangerous place for women... nevermind being hostile to babies in the womb.

Please continue to pray for the victims of Planned Parenthood, and pray that lawmakers who subsidize Planned Parenthood to the tune of over $330 million will soften their hearts and end the taxpayer-fueled tragedy Planned Parenthood continues to inflict on women.
